CITY 2000

CASTLE MEADOWS AND
RIVERSIDE DEVELOPMENT.

'City 2000' is a plan to regenerate Nottingham city centre over a period of time in the late 1990s and early years of the 21st century. The following images highlight aspects of this work.

1.

Castle Meadows

Castle Meadows used to be industrial land near the railway, along Castle Boulevard. This is a retail park development.

2.

This illustrates the closeness of this development to the traditional heart of the city - it stands in the shadow of the castle. Here there is good road access and ample space for parking.

3.

Castle Bridge 'office village' between Castle Boulevard and the Nottingham-Derby railway line, on old railway yards. This encloses the canal basin development.

4.

The Riverside

This development is on the site of the old Wilford Power station. It is close to the Clifton flyover (with M1 / ring road access) and alongside the R. Trent embankment. It is a mixed development of commercial, light industrial, retail and leisure companies. The first phase opened in June 1993
