NEW HOUSING AREA 5
BROOMHILL PARK, EAST OF NOTTINGHAM ROAD

Proposed by
Ashfield District Council
Location
East of Nottingham Road in Hucknall.
Size
144 houses on about 7 hectares.
Existing use
This is a disused park and former zoo site.
Advantages
  • The site develops under-used land, already surrounded by housing.
  • Next the bus route and close to rail / tram access to Nottingham.
  • Close to Hucknall by-pass and motorway links.
Disadvantages
  • The site would take up one of the few remaining open areas on this side of Hucknall.
  • The land is all existing Green Belt.
  • Only sustainable if the tram network is developed to stop alongside the development.
  • A long way from Hucknall shops or Bulwell shops.
  • Leads to coalescence with Bulwell - urban sprawl.
